NICK A THOMA
Nick A. Thoma, 84, 3284 Grandview Blvd., Sioux City, a LeMars native, died Wednesday (Dec. 27, 1978) at Casa de Paz retirement home after a brief illness.
He was born June 21, 1894, in LeMars to Anthony and Anna Hoffman Thoma. He was the last survivor of a large family.
Mr. Thoma graduated for St. Joseph’s school in LeMars and worked as a food inspector for the department of agriculture after which he was employed by Toller Drug, Sioux City, for 20 years. He retired in 1956.
He was a World War I veteran, a member of Sioux Valley barracks 1019, Monahan post 64, Sioux City American Legion and the LeMars Last Man’s Club. He was a past commander of Wasmer post 241, LeMars.
His marriage to Mae E. Kass took place September 1920 in LeMars.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Sioux City, with Msgr. Richard V. Sweeney officiating. Burial will be in LeMars Calvary Cemetery under the direction of the Meyer Bros. Colonial Chapel, 3220 Stone Park Blvd., Sioux City.
The rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Survivors are his wife, Sioux City; two sons, Kenneth of Fredricksburg, Tex., and Lowell, Norfolk, Neb.; two daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Connie) Herrin, Las Vegas and Mrs. John (Margaret) Boden, Sioux City; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
