GERTRUDE EISMA

Mrs. Burton (Gertrude) Eisma, 59, lifelong Maurice and area resident died Thursday (Nov. 15, 1979) at the Orange City hospital after an illness of 3 ½ months.

Gertrude Maassen was born Jan. 18, 1920, at Maurice to Tunis and Rena Mulder Maassen. She lived on farms in Sioux and Plymouth counties for 32 years. The couple moved to Maurice in 1977.

She was a member of Calvin Reformed church in LeMars and taught Sunday school for many years. She was treasurer and a member of the Ladies Aid.

Her marriage to Burton Eisma took place at Maurice, March 15, 1946.

Services will be Monday, Nov. 19, at 10 a.m. at Calvin Christian Reformed Church in LeMars. Rev. Roger Bouwman will officiate and burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens under the direction of the Mauer funeral home.

The family would like family and friends to remember Mrs. Eisma with memorials for the church and missions in lieu of any other remembrance.

Survivors are her husband Burton of Maurice; two sons and wives, Rodney and Connie Eisma, LeMars, and Stanley and Shirley Eisman, Maurice; two grandchildren, Gretchen Lynn Eisma and Nicholas Ryan Eisma; a brother, John Maassen, Maurice; two sisters, Mrs. Wally (Henrietta) Muilenberg, Maurice, and Elaine Sherman, Lombard, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
