RICHARD A. ANDERSON
Richard A. “Dick” Anderson, 58, of Sioux City died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Alex T. Washington officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Anderson was born Aug. 26, 1941, in Akron, Iowa, the son of Roy and Ruth (Vreugdenhil) Anderson. He attended Sioux City schools.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He married Sharolyn “Sherry” Tackett on June 21, 1964, in Sioux City.
He was employed with Armour and Co. in Sterling, Ill., from 1966 to 1973, when he returned to Sioux City. He continued to work for Armour, which later became Morrell Meat Packers. He was also a country route carrier for The Sioux City Journal.
He was of the Methodist faith and a member of U.F.C.W. Local 1142.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Richard A. “Rich” Jr. and his wife, Lorraine, Terry L., Steven C. and Michael D. “Mick”, all of Sioux City; his mother, Ruth of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Gregory, Keri and Ashleigh Anderson; two step grandsons, James and Bobby Vogel; a brother and his wife, Rodney and Soni of Japan; and two sisters, Rosemary Roman of Sioux City and Ruth Ann and her husband, Bruce McPherson of Clarksville, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Rodger.
