MARCUS, Iowa -- Faye Joan Dunn, 73, of rural Marcus died Friday, April 1, 2005, at her home following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen, Iowa. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Marcus (one mile south of Trinity Lutheran Church). Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 5 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Earnest-Rohde Funeral Home in Marcus.

Faye was born Aug. 9, 1931, on a farm in Capel Township, Sioux County, the daughter of Marion and Sophia (Van Wyk) De Graaf. She graduated from Orange City High School in 1950. After graduation, she worked at the Sioux County Courthouse.

She married Gerald F. "Jerry" Dunn on Aug. 5, 1951, at Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen, Iowa, where she was an active member. They lived in the Remsen area until they moved to their home south of Marcus in 1958, where they still farm. They were blessed with a loving family and many lifelong friendships.

Faye was an active sports enthusiast. She enjoyed fishing, traveling, cooking, bowling, crossword puzzles and spending time with family and friends. She was active in the farm operation and did the bookkeeping. She worked several years at Job Service of Iowa in Cherokee, Iowa.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry of rural Marcus; a son, James and his wife, Deb of Waterloo, Iowa; two daughters, Jeralyn Volkert of Marcus and Jana and her husband, Brad Welp of Greencastle, Ind.; a sister, Shirley Ward of Santa Rosa, Calif.; five grandchildren, Jenny Volkert of Omaha, Neb., John Volkert of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Jody Noteboom of Florissant, Colo. and Jay and Jeri Ann Welp of Greencastle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant son, David.
