Janice (Jan) Calhoun, 61, of Oklahoma City, Okla., formerly of Sioux City died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, at her residence following a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Funeral Chapel in Oklahoma City. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens.

Jan was born March 8, 1940, in Westfield, Iowa, the daughter of Levi and Florence Kapfer. She was raised in Sioux City, graduating from East High School in 1958. She moved to Oklahoma City in 1964. She was an employee relations specialist when she retired in March 2001 from Tinker Air Force Base after a 25-year career.

She lived a very active life including playing softball, clogging and bowling. She loved traveling to Las Vegas and Kansas City to play the slot machines. She also loved to watch football and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys as well as OU and OSU. She also enjoyed cheering at her grandchildren's baseball or football games. She was also very active in the S.P.O.R.T. organization of Oklahoma City.

Survivors include two daughters, Julie Calhoun and Jodi Piatt of Tulsa; two sons, Jim Calhoun and his wife, Joan of Moore, and Jerry Calhoun and his wife, Lorraine of Eagan, Minn.; a sister and her husband, Peggy and Buell Schager; her closest and dearest friend, Claudia Hash; seven grandchildren, Shawna, Andrew and Levi Calhoun of Moore, Bradley and J.J. Calhoun of Eagan, and Justin and Kira Piatt of Tulsa; six nieces; three nephews; and many loving friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Betty Kapfer, Patty Kapfer and Kathy Molden.
