MRS. METTA COOPER

Metta M. Cooper, 68, longtime LeMars resident and businesswoman, died Tuesday (November 19, 1974) at Floyd Valley Hospital after an extended illness. She had been hospitalized since November 10.

The former Metta Hansen, she was born December 5, 1905, and O'Brien County, a daughter of Henry and Margaretta Hansen. She was married August 20 2, 1928, and O'Brien County to Orlo Cooper. He preceded her in death in 1953 when he was killed in a car-train crash.

Mrs. Cooper was a long time employee at the Clara Owen Dress Shop, and later managed that shop for several years. She had been employed recently at Neets N Grubs women’s shop.

She was a member of St. John's American Lutheran Church.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at St. John's Church in LeMars, with the Reverend Arnold Imbrock and Reverend William Striepe officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, under direction of the Luken-Johnson funeral home.

Survivors are two sons, James of LeMars and Robert of Merrill; a daughter, Mrs. Norman (Joyce) Swain, Emerson, Iowa; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Henry Hansen, Jr., May City, and Ralph Hansen, Peterson; and two sisters, Mrs. Gilbert (Margaret) Smith, Spirit Lake, and Mrs. Emma Hamilton, Hartley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers.
