Mrs. Eldon Clement, 42, 441 Second Ave. NE, died Tuesday at Sioux City, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital after an illness for several weeks. She had been hospitalized four weeks. [Date of death: Jan. 5, 1971]

Mrs. Clement was a homemaker and was employed as a secretary for Bomgaars Insurance Agency. Her husband is an elementary physical education teacher with the LeMars community schools. He teaches in all the elementary schools in the system.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at St. John's American Lutheran Church, with Reverend Arnold Imbrock and Reverend Paul Tobiason officiating.

Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, LeMars, under direction of the Mauer funeral home.

The former Madonna Martha Schmidt, she was born July 17, 1928, in Sioux County near Hawarden, a daughter of Martha Onken Schmidt and the late Fred J. Schmidt.

She married Eldon T. Clement June 9, 1948, in LeMars. Mrs. Clement lived at rural LeMars as a child and later at Ames, Rippey and Rock Rapids, returning to LeMars in 1957.

She was a member of the American Lutheran Church, A.L.C.W., choir, was a Sunday school teacher and a 1945 graduate of LeMars high school.

She was preceded in death by her father, Fred J. Schmidt.

Survivors are her husband, Eldon, of LeMars; two daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Deborah) Kurth and Corinne, both of LeMars; a son, Daniel Scott, at home; her mother, Mrs. Martha Schmidt of LeMars; a sister, Mrs. Leslie (Ramona) Pecks of LeMars; and two brothers, Donald of LeMars and Wallace of Sunnyvale, California.
