ELDON CLEMENT

Eldon T. Clement, 57, LeMars Community Schools elementary physical education instructor and teacher, died unexpectedly Friday (October 19, 1984) after suffering a heart attack.

He was rushed to Floyd Valley Hospital, by the LeMars Fire Department rescue unit after he collapsed at the Kluckhohn School parking lot at 3:40 p.m..

Funeral was at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. John's American Lutheran Church with Reverend Thomas Lee officiating. Burial was in Resthaven Memory Gardens, LeMars, under direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home.

He was born May 9, 1927, in Plymouth County to Theodore and Mary Stehr Clement. He graduated from LeMars Community Schools in 1946 and was a member of the state runner-up championship basketball team that year.

He graduated from Iowa State University, Ames, and taught school and coached in Rippey, Rock Rapids and LeMars since 1957.

He married Madonna Schmidt June 9, 1948, in LeMars. She died in 1971. He married June Brewbaker July 26, 1984, at Rock Rapids.

Mr. Clement was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, a Navy veteran, a member of the American Legion, LeMars Wasmer Post 241 and a former LeMars Park Board member.

He is survived by his wife, June, LeMars; two daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Deborah) Kurth, LeMars, and Mrs. Hal (Corinne) Russell, Fort Collins, Colo.; a son, Daniel Clement, LeMars; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Matgen and Mrs. Edna Blankenburg, both of LeMars; four grandchildren; three stepchildren and seven step grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother,Wilbert Clement.
