Vera Bogenrief, 83, of Sioux City died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at her residence.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Nelson-Berger Morningside Funeral Home, with the Rev. Alex T. Washington officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bogenrief was born Sept. 17, 1918, in Sioux City, the daughter of Peter and Alexandra O'Millinuk. She attended and graduated from Central High School. She lived in the South Bottom area of Sioux City until the 1953 flood. She then relocated to the Morningside area. She was a dance hall volunteer with the USO during World War II.
She married Clyde Bogenrief on Aug. 26, 1955, in Hinton, Iowa. She began her career as a beautician, worked at several meat packing plants and was an account clerk for the city of Sioux City until her son was born in 1956.
Survivors include her husband; a son and his wife, Dennis and Diane Bogenrief of Sioux City; a nephew, Walter O'Millinuk of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a niece and her son, Leslie Mullican and Christopher of Soddy Daisy, Tenn.; and three sisters-in-law, Germaine O'Millinuk of Ventura, Calif., Jane O'Millinuk of Chattanooga and Audria Maxon and her children of South Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Nick and Walter O'Millinuk.
