MOVILLE, Iowa -- Esther Mae Blankenship, 86, of Moville died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004, at Kingsley Nursing and Rehab Center in Kingsley, Iowa.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel in Sioux City, with the Rev. Harold E. Werley officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., a prayer service at 7 p.m. and a Order of the Eastern Star service at 7:30 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. Blankenship was born Feb. 24, 1918, in Climbing Hill, Iowa, the daughter of Floyd and Maude (Jarnigan) Steinhauer. She was raised in the Climbing Hill area, where she attended school. After graduating from high school, she attended Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb. and Le Mars (Iowa) College.
She married Maurice Troy Blankenship on Feb. 24, 1945, in Ponca, Neb. The couple lived in Sioux City for 35 years and a few years in California. She was employed as a clerk with Security National Bank for 36 years. Mr. Blankenship passed away May 12, 1986. She had been a resident of Moville for the past 12 years.
She attended Third Presbyterian Church and was a member of Morningside Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 502, where she was a past Matron.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews; two brothers-in-law; and three sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; five sisters; and three brothers.
