MARCUS, Iowa -- Michael Francis Bierman, 49, of Chaska, Minn., formerly of the Marcus area, died unexpectedly Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

Memorial services will be 6 p.m. Monday at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa, with the Rev. James Steen officiating. There will be a time of sharing for family and friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Michael was born Oct. 28, 1951, in Le Mars, Iowa, to Francis and Florence (Berglund) Bierman. He was one of five children. Michael was baptized and confirmed in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee, and was a graduate of Marcus High School. On Aug. 27, 1977, Michael married Roberta Peterson in Lodi, Wis. They have four sons.

Michael was very active in the Chaska Hockey Association and attended every one of his son's hockey games. Michael also enjoyed watching football and hockey on television, growing flowers, but he was most happy spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his parents, Francis and Florence Bierman of Cherokee; his wife, Roberta and sons, Francis Michael Bierman, Matthew Charles Bierman, Luke James Bierman and Clint Andrew Bierman; sister and brother-in-law, Joy and Leonard Seggerman of Kirksville, Mo.; brothers, David Bierman and his special friend, Donella Shaw of Marcus, and Charles August Bierman; nephews, Michael and Erica Reinert, David Reinert, Phillip and Tina Nelson, Joseph Bierman and Matthew Paul Seggerman; and his dog, Fritz.

Michael was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Kaye Johnston-Bierman.
