LE MARS, Iowa -- Tena M. (Renken) Bowser, 90, of Le Mars died Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Le Mars, with the Rev. Gary Landsness officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church.

Christina Margaret Frances Johnson was born March 19, 1911, in Preston Township, rural Plymouth County, Iowa, to John and Lena (Siebens) Johnson. Tena was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Grant Township. She attended country school in Grant Township.

Tena was united in marriage to Fred J. Renken in 1928. Mr. Renken passed away in 1976. Tena married Paul Bowser in 1987. Mr. Bowser passed away in 1994.

Tena had worked at Vander Meer Bakery and later at Floyd Valley Hospital as a nursing assistant for several years. For more than 20 years, Tena enjoyed the winter months at the Fountain of Youth Spa in California.

Tena was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church and Deborah Circle. Her ability to make people laugh with her jokes and stories will be missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, Randall and Catherine "Bunny" Renken of Fairfax, Va., Keith and Joan Renken of Arcadia, Calif., and Jack and Debra Renken of Stevens Point, Wis.; a sister, Alice Buhman of Le Mars; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Henry and William Johnson.

Pallbearers will be Robin, Michael, Robert, John, Scott and Tim Renken.
