NORMAN BRUNKEN
Funeral for Norman John Brunken, 59, lifelong LeMars and area resident, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John’s American Lutheran Church in LeMars.
Rev. David Kramer will officiate and burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, LeMars, under direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home.
Mr. Brunken was dead on arrival Thursday morning, Sept. 6, 1984, at Floyd Valley Hospital, LeMars. He had been ill for six years.
He was born April 2, 1925, in LeMars to Herman and Mary Lubben Brunken. He graduated from LeMars High School and was a LeMars resident all his life except for a short period in California after his retirement.
His marriage to Betty Jo Stromlund took place June 6, 1948, in LeMars. He was a member of St. John’s Church.
Survivors are his wife, Betty Jo, LeMars; two daughters, Mrs. Bruce (Karen) Knapp, Westfield, and MRs. Greg (Janet) Thompson, LeMars; two sons, Randall Brunken, Sioux City, and Richard Brunken, LeMars; a brother Clarence Brunken, LeMars; two sisters, Mrs. Ray (Esther) Renken and Mrs. Leonard (Marian) Schmidt, both of LeMars, and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
