MATT BRUSCHER
Mathias “Matt” Bruscher, 82, of LeMars, died early Tuesday, July 15, 1997, at The Abbey of LeMars.
Mathias Bruscher was born June 17, 1915, on the family farm in Marian Township, rural Plymouth County, the son of John B. and Margaret (Schroeder) Bruscher. He attended country school in Marion Township. On Aug. 19, 1941, he married Edna L. Johansen in Omaha, Neb. Mr. Bruscher was a life-long resident of Plymouth County. He farmed in Marion Township and did custom baling until 1970 when the couple retired and moved to LeMars. For the past 2 ˝ years Mr. Bruscher had been a resident of The Abbey of LeMars.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in LeMars.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Judy Klave of LeMars and Lana Cornelius and her husband, Ray, of Huxley; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Joan Bruscher of LeMars; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Emil Bruscher of LeMars; and a sister, Justine Eufers of LeMars.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters; a granddaughter, Jenifer Cornelius; and a son-in-law, Vernon “Ben” Klave.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in LeMars with the Rev. Jerome Cosgrove officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery, LeMars. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today (Wednesday), with a Scripture wake service at 7 p.m. at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.
Pallbearers will be Emil Bruscher, Jr., David Bruscher, Dennis Bruscher, Jack Graser, Darrell Dolieslager, Charlie Eufers and Melvin DeBlauw.
