LAURENCE BASS
Laurence K. Bass, 61, of Marcus died Thursday (April 27, 1978) in an Omaha hospital of long illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Grace United Methodist Church at Marcus. Reverend F. W. Shreve will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens in LeMars under the direction of Nelson-Mauer funeral home in Marcus.
Mr. Bass was born September 7, 1916, in Marcus. He married Ruth Okerstrom of LeMars, July 15, 1948, in Marcus. He was a livestock buyer and lived in Marcus most of his life. He served in the Army during World War II.
He was a member of the Marcus City Council, Grace United Methodist Church, Seba Lodge 463 AF & AM and Si Goodburn Post 517 American Legion.
He was director of Farmers State Bank in Marcus and Board member and past president of Marcus golf club.
Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Steve (Kay) Powell of LeMars and Kim Bass of Marcus; a brother, Charles of Marcus; a sister, Mrs. Don (Marguerite) Petry of LeMars; a half brother, William of Sacramento, California, and a half-sister, Mrs. Leland (Jean) Hogue of Marcus.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
