NATALIE L. BARTON

Natalie L. Barton, 35, of Larrabee, died Monday, September 15, 1997, at Marian Health Center in Sioux City as a result of a motorcycle accident.

Natalie Lee Johnson was born September 23, 1961, in LeMars, the daughter of Ronald L. and Janet (Piatt) Johnson. As a young girl Natalie moved with her family to the Larrabee area and received her education in Cherokee. On September 8, 1979, she married Brad Barton in Cherokee.

She received her LPN degree from Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg. She received her RN degree from Allegheny Community College in Cumberland, Maryland, and had worked at Pennknoll Nursing Home in Bedford, Pennsylvania, prior to moving back to Hinton in 1989. She had worked for St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City, Methodist Manor Nursing Home in Storm Lake, Heartland Care Center in Marcus, and Countryside Estates in Cherokee.

Natalie was a very caring person who enjoyed the nursing profession. She was involved with a group of concerned parents working for the establishment of a recreation center for the youth of Cherokee and surrounding areas.

She enjoyed knitting, gardening, flowers and motorcycles. She was a member of the A.B.A.T.E. District 8 of Iowa, serving as events coordinator; and the Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) and associated with the Independent Riders Association.

Survivors include three children, Brad Barton Jr. of Largo, Florida, Nicole Barton and Christopher Barton at home in Larrabee; her father and stepmother, Ronald and Elizabeth Johnson of Marshalltown; her mother and stepfather, Janet and Glen Evans of Sioux City; her parental grandmother, Reika Johnson of LeMars; her maternal stepgrandmother, Emma Piatt of Lakeland, Florida; a sister, Katie Gaa, of Winterset; and two brothers and sisters in law, Timm and Sue Johnson of Seminole, Florida, and Ted and Tammy Johnson of Breezewood, Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Ted Johnson; and maternal grandparents, Clara and Edward Piatt.
