ROSCOE BAKER
Roscoe Baker, 71, of LeMars, died Monday, February 20, 1995, at his home.
Roscoe Virgil Baker was born February 19, 1924, at Moville, the son of Kenneth and Clara (Strackbein) Baker. He graduated from Remsen High School. He served in the United States Army during World War II. On September 13, 1950, he married Bernice Johnson at Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen. The couple lived in LeMars for over 40 years. He had worked as an auto mechanic at various auto dealerships in LeMars. He retired from Midcon Equipment in Sioux City in 1989. During his retirement, he enjoyed collecting antiques.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Allen Baker and his wife, Donna of Sioux City, and Kenny Baker of LeMars; a daughter, Donna Baker of Orange City; six grandchildren; two brothers, Warren Baker of Ireton and Victor Baker of Kingsley; three sisters, Bonnie Meisner of Lovelock, Neb., Blanche Majeres of LeMars, and Viola Gengler of Remsen.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Clarence Baker.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars, with the Reverend Richard Ries officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, with military honors provided by the Wasmer American Legion Post 241. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Wednesday with a scripture service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
