Lois Sanow, 69, of Struble, died unexpectedly Monday, June 14, 2004 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

Lois Anna Sanow was born Jan. 23, 1935, on a farm in Union County, S.D., the daughter of Roy Squires and Maggie Christine (Hansen) Carlson. She graduated from Akron High School in 1954. On June 20, 1954, Lois and Delbert Leo Sanow were united in marriage at the Westside Church of Christ in Akron. The couple made their home in Le Mars where Lois worked at Archie's Waeside Restaurant for 23 years. During some of those years she also worked at the Plymouth County Home and sold Avon. Lois and Delbert moved to Struble in December 1976.

Lois was a charter member of the Le Mars Church of Christ. She enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting and spending time with her family.

Survivors include a son, Del Sanow and his wife, Judy of Napavine, Wash., a daughter, Roxann Anger and her husband, Keith of Hornick, a son, Terry Sanow of Le Mars, and a daughter, Vickie James and her husband, Greg, of Le Mars; 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Le Roy Carlson and his wife Teresa of Norfolk, Neb., a sister, Lucille Lanning and her husband, Bob, of Akron; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Delbert on March 2, 2004; a grandson. Elijah Sanow; and a brother Lowell "Swede" Carlson.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Pastor Matt Wentz with the Le Mars Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery, rural Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume at 9 a.m. Thursday and continue until the service time.
