LeMars Sentinel, Tuesday, March 2, 2004Delbert Sanow, 69, of Struble, died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars.
Delbert Leo Sanow was born March 21, 1934, on a farm in Cherokee County, the son of Otto and Olive (Peters) Sanow. He was raised and educated in Le Mars. On June 20, 1954, Delbert and Lois Anna Carlson were united in marriage at the Westside Church of Christ in Akron. The couple made their home in Le Mars where Delbert worked at the Dorr Turkey Farm. Later he started his own lawn care service, a business he operated for 27 years. Delbert and Lois moved to Struble in December 1976. He served on the Struble city council for 18 years.
Delbert enjoyed riding horses, his dogs, and hunting. He was a charter member of the Le Mars Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Lois of Struble; a son, Del Sanow and his wife, Judy, of Napavine, Wash., a daughter, Roxann Anger and her husband, Keith, of Hornick, a son, Terry Sanow of Le Mars, and a daughter, Vickie James and her husband, Greg, of Le Mars; 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Lawrence Sanow and his wife, Phyllis, of Le Mars, a sister, Virginia Schultz and her husband, Melvin, of Le Mars, a sister, Joyce Gotto of California; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Elijah Carl Sanow; two sisters, Marie Sanow and LaVonne Sanow; and three brothers, Leslie, Harold and Eddie Sanow.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars. Pastor Matt Wentz with the Le Mars Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume at 9 a.m. on Friday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home and continue until service time.
Pallbearers will be Justin Aduddell, Jesse, Aduddell, Ron Van Voorst, Mike Vander Molen, Kenny Urban, Bobby Hughes. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Vollmecke, Leonard Rolfes, Lawrence Rolfes.
