LeMars Sentinel, Wednesday, May 17, 2006Scott Meister, 45, of Overland Park, Kan., and formerly of Le Mars, died Tuesday, May 16, 2006, in Kansas City.
Scott Alan Meister was born May 19, 1960, in Le Mars, the son of Jerry and Phyllis (Dunne) Meister. Scott was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars. He graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1978 and worked at Wells' Dairy, Inc., for four years. He then pursued his education at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa and received a degree in computer technology.
In the early 1980s he went to work for Digital Equipment Corp. in Little Rock, Ark., doing computer installations and servicing computer systems. In the early 1990s Scott returned to Iowa to continue his education at Western Iowa Tech Community College where he received an additional computer science degree.
Scott was united in marriage to Amanda Howell on July 30, 1994. He moved to Overland Park, Kan., and began working for Northup Grumman, continuing to work with computer systems for nine years. For the past year he has worked for Jetronics in Kansas City doing computer system installations and system maintenance.
Scott loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bicycling and nature photography. He had also enjoyed volunteering with his church youth group. As a youth leader, he had taken the youth camping and rafting.
Survivors include his parents, Jerry and Phyllis Meister of Le Mars; a brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Judy Meister of Lee's Summit, Mo.; two nieces, Jana and Danica Meister of Lee's Summit, Mo.; grandmothers, Maxine Meister of Le Mars and Edna Dunne of Kingsley; several uncles, Ken and Betty Meister of Redwood Falls, Minn., Mark and Joan Meister of Correctionville, Dan and Pat Meister of Pierson, Jerry and Caryl Meister of Sioux City, Ron Dunne of Westminster, Colo., Bill and Ann Dunne of Kingsley; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ralph Meister and William P. Dunne, Sr.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars with
the Rev. Larry Fett officiating. Interment will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery, rural Le Mars. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today (Friday) at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Brian Meister, Jim Meister, Darren Meister, Corey Dunne, Jeremy Sitzmann, and Ryan Reinking. Honorary casket bearers will be Cindy Digman, Kim Jansen, Nicole Brownell, Jennifer Galles, Gina Sitzman, Angela Meister, Holly Kohn, Heather Fitch, Heidi Reinking, and Suzy Meiners.
