Rose Heeren, 80, of Le Mars, died Wednesday, June 8, 2005, at Brentwood Good Samaritan Village of Le Mars, following a lengthy illness.

The former Rose E. Goebel was born Jan. 24, 1925 .at Le Mars, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Ruhland) Goebel. Rose married Harlan W. Heeren on April 6, 1947, at Kingsley. Rose and Harlan farmed side by side for many years, farming land that has been in the Goebel family for over 100 years. Harlan died May 25, 1973. Following her husband's death, she remained involved in the farm management. She was a lover of the land and rural scenery.

Rose planted and enjoyed her many evergreens, watched them grow, and cherished their beauty. She also loved to plant a big garden that she willingly shared with her friends and neighbors.

Rose is survived by her special friends and caregiving nephew, Bill Goebel and his wife Rosemary of Hinton; Other nieces and nephews include Carol and Norman Graham and Garry and Carolyn Goebel, all of Sioux City, Shelly and Clint Leonard of Remsen, and Monte and Teresa Heeren of Grimes; and a sister-in-law, Darlene Goebel of rural Sioux City.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harlan; and a brother Joe Goebel.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. Richard Ries officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, rural Le Mars. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Monday at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars, where there will be a parish rosary at 4 p.m. and a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Ahrendsen, Alfred Ahrendsen, Steve Plathe, Bob Plathe, Jerry Kessenich, Paul Kessenich, and Harley Goebel.
