Nancy Kaye Gralapp, 55, of Le Mars, died unexpectedly Friday, April 14, 2006, as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident.

The former Nancy Kaye Steuben was born Oct. 24, 1950, in Hartley, the daughter of Gene and Shirley (Schoenewe) Steuben. She attended Milford Community Schools, graduating in 1968. Nancy attended St. Luke's School of Nursing in Sioux City, graduating in 1971. She then was employed with St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City as a clinical instructor and later as a pediatric staff nurse.

Nancy married Evon Gralapp of Le Mars on Aug. 25, 1973, in Spencer. They lived on a farm north of Le Mars. She worked part-time as a nurse with Medical Associates for 20 years and then worked at Floyd Valley Hospital. She was presently working at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City.

She was a long-time member of St. John's American Lutheran Church -- ELCA in Le Mars. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing and quilting.

She is survived by her husband Evon of Le Mars; two daughters, Amanda Sill and her husband, Mark of Nevada, and Gena Sternberg and her husband, Michael of Littleton, Colo.; a son, Cody Gralapp of Nevada; her mother, Shirley Steuben of Milford; a brother, Rick Steuben and his wife, Jennifer of Everly; and several aunts and uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Gene Steuben and a brother, Scott Steuben, both in 2000. She was also preceded in death by her in-laws, Leslie and Lucy Gralapp.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's American Lutheran Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. Gary P. Landsness officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens at Le Mars. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. The family will be present from 6 to 8:30 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the funeral on Wednesday at the church. The Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Steuben, Bob Puetz, Ed Richardson, Don Cable, Craig Gralapp and Rick Foreman.
