WAS MEMBER OF PIONEER FAMILY
John Schneider, 83, a lifelong resident of this community, passed away Saturday night in a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Schneider apparently had remained in good health, considering his age, and his many friends were shocked to hear of his death. Since retiring from active farming, Mr. and Mrs. Schneider have continued to live in their home about 2 miles northeast of Hinton, where they spent their entire married life.
Mr. Schneider was born in the same house, August 20, 1870. He was united in marriage to Anna Julch on December 17, 1907. Mr. Schneider was very successful in his farm operations, and was outstanding in community affairs. He was a member of the Melbourne Evangelical U. B. Church.
Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Inez E. Shirk of Racine, Wisconsin, and Mrs. Dorothea L. Van Evera of Hinton; one son, Glenn Schneider, of Hinton; two sisters, Rebecca S. Koths of Portland, Oregon, and Dorothea Schneider of Hinton, and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Melbourne Evangelical U.B. church, with Reverend Charles Henry in charge of the services. Burial was in the Melbourne Cemetery. Pallbearers were Raymond Becker, Roy, Lester and Everett Julch, Burdette Schneider and Harold Schneider.
