Amelia Plendl

Mrs. Joseph (Amelia) Plendl, 82, a LeMars area native, died Sunday (Dec. 24, 1978) at Plymouth Manor in LeMars after a brief illness. She had resided at the care center the last two years.

Amelia Rodenbour was born March 1, 1896, south of LeMars to John and Anna Petges Rodenbour.

She married Joseph B. Plendl, Jan. 7, 1920, at Struble. The couple farmed south of LeMars and in Sioux County near Struble. They moved to LeMars in 1951. Mr. Plendl died in August 1952.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Plendl was a member of St. James Catholic church and altar society.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. James church with Rev. George McFadden officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, LeMars, under direction of the Luedtke funeral home.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m., Wednesday. The parish rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Six grandsons will be pallbearers.

Survivors are two daughters; Mrs. Edward (Marcella) Lampert Sioux City, and Mrs. Roman (Irene) Ortmann, Remsen; two sons, Edmund Plendl of Maurice and Leroy Plendl, Remsen; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
