Leslie Smith

Leslie Smith, 82, LeMars, died Friday (Dec. 15, 1978) at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Services were at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John’s Lutheran church, LeMars, with Rev. William Striepe and Rev. W. Gies officiating. Burial was in the LeMars Memorial cemetery under direction of the Luken-Johnson funeral home.

Mr. Smith was born Nov. 21, 1896, at Akron. He married Pearl Barnes, Nov. 24, 1915, at Akron. The couple farmed in the Akron and LeMars areas and moved to town in 1955.

He was a member of St. John’s American Lutheran church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Virgil (Darlene) Ruhland, Hinton; a brother Fay, Akron; two grandsons, three granddaughters and six great-grandchildren.
