MARGARET SITZMANN

Margaret Sitzmann celebrated her 94th birthday, Sat. Oct. 5. Twenty-eight relatives gathered at Brentwood to help her celebrate.

Margaret, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pat Connors, was born at Cedar Rapids in 1880. The Connors family moved to a farm southeast of LeMars when Margaret was three years old. She attended country school and then did housework for others until her marriage in 1898 to A. J. Sitzmann.

Mr. and Mrs. Sitzmann resided on a farm near the Neptune church and remained on the same place until moving to LeMars in 1936. They had four sons and two daughters. Edwin and Loretta Kolker reside at LeMars and Eva Thill lives at Sioux Falls. Her sons, Walter, Lawrence and Ray are deceased. The Sitzmanns attended St. Joseph’s Catholic church. Mr. Sitzmann passed away in 1965. They had 66 anniversaries.

Margaret continued to keep busy in her latter years. After moving to LeMars, she assisted in serving lunches and meals to large gatherings.

Mrs. Sitzmann has lived at Brentwood two years. She has 37 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren. Her daughter, Mrs. Alvin Kolker, and friends, Mrs. Henry Ommen and Mrs. Louie Staab joined her for the party.
