ELIZABETH KOUNKEL

Anna Elizabeth Erbes was born Oct. 5, 1885, at Lakefield, Minn. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Erbes, were farmers, and Elizabeth attended rural school. She had three brothers and two sisters.

May 6, 1908, Elizabeth was married to William Kounkel and came to live in the Neptune area south of LeMars. Their entire 58 years of married life were spent on the same farm in Stanton Township. A short time after Mr. Kounkel passed away in 1966, Elizabeth came to LeMars and has resided at Brentwood seven years.

The Kounkels attended Trinity Lutheran Church east of Hinton. Mrs. Kounkel also belonged to the Ladies Aid. Her four children all reside in or near LeMars. They include sons, Lloyd and Eldon; and daughters, Fern Groseneheider and Evelyn Staab. She has 13 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Members of her family called on her in observance of her 89th birthday.
