A. W. GREEN DIES AT ROCKFORD
Dr. A. W. Green, a former resident of West Bend, but who has been living at Rockford, Iowa the past couple of years, died at that place Monday. The remains arrived here Wednesday evening and the funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church this afternoon. An obituary will be published next week.

OBITUARY OF A. W. GREEN
A. W. Green was born near Zaleski, Vinton county Ohio, December 17, 1848. His mother dying during his infancy, he was left to the care of his grandmother until he was nine years old and then went to Ross county to live with his father.

It was during the Civil War in 1864 that he received his “spiritual birth,” and he never doubted it. In March of 1864 he came to Dwight [DeWitt] county, Illinois, then to VanBuren county, Iowa, in October, 1870. In December, 1873, he came to Marengo, Iowa, where he started the practice of dentistry with his brother, E. B.

He was married in March, 1882, to Anna L. Stover. To this union ten children were born, three preceding him in death. They lived in North English until November 9, 1891, when they moved to West Bend, Iowa where they lived so many years practicing dentistry. While here he united with the Presbyterian church. They moved to Rockford, Floyd county, Iowa, May 1, 1920. It was at this place that Mr. Green died on October 30, 1922 being 73 years, 10 months and 13 days old.

The remains were taken to West Bend for interment in the family lot. The funeral services were conducted last Thursday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church by Rev. deBest of Rodman.

The wife and seven children survive him. The children are: J. A. of Rockford; Mrs. O. A. Campbell of Rodman; Mrs. R. S. Barton of Algona; L. N. of Newell; Mrs. C. F. Mudge of Estherville; Mrs. A. T. Heiter of Laurens; and D. C. of Ames – all of whom were with him during his last illness. He is also survived by thirteen grand-children. Mrs. Green and the children have the sympathy of their many West Bend friends.

A brief service was held at the home at ten o’clock this morning, conducted by Rev. Clements, pastor of the M. E. church, after which the remains were taken to West Bend for interment in the family lot. Funeral services will be conducted at West Bend by Rev. Debest of Rodman, from the Presbyterian church of which he had been a member for about 26 years.

FINAL RITES HELD FOR MRS. GREEN

Funeral services for Mrs. A. W. Green, a former resident of West Bend, who died at Humboldt last Thursday, were held at the Presbyterian church in West Bend Saturday afternoon. The services were in charge of Rev. John Lewis. The pallbearers were C. W. McCullough, L. J. Kohler, R. G. Wilson and A. W. Hansen. Interment was in the West Bend cemetery beside the remains of her husband who died in 1922.

Anna L. Stover was born on June 11, 1857, near North English, Iowa, and passed away in Humboldt, Iowa, April 4, 1946, at the age of 88 years, 9 months and 24 days.

She lived with her parents until her marriage to Dr. A. W. Green March 16, 1882. Ten children, five boys and five girls, were born to this union. Three children died in infancy and Lulu (Mrs. Ray Barton) passed away in 1923 at Algona.

They lived in North English, Iowa, until 1891 when they moved to West Bend. In 1920, they moved to Rockford, Iowa, where Mr. Green passed away in October, 1922. Mrs. Green resided in Rockford until about a year ago.

She leaves to mourn her death three sons, James A. of Humboldt, Iowa, Lee W. of Gridley, Cal., and Dewey C. of Hocomo, Mo.; and three daughters, Mrs. O. A. Campbell of Emmetsburg, Iowa; Mrs. C. F. Mudge of Chicago, and Mrs. A. T. Heiter of Rolfe; also 23 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. Mrs. Green was the last of a family of eleven children of H. W. and Sarah Stover.

Among those from a distance who came to attend the funeral were: Mrs. Elmer Reid of Vinton, Iowa; Jos. Nellis of Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Barton and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Barton of Algona; Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Heiter and family of Clear Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Williams of Badger; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sanders of Algona; Mrs. Dana Devitt of Marathon; Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Campbell of Emmetsburg; Mrs. C. F. Mudge of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Heiter and family of Rolfe; James A Green of Humboldt. Two sons, Dewey of Hocomo, Mo., and Lee W. of Gridley, Cal., were unable to be present.
