August 22, 1950 - the Reporter - Funeral rites for Mrs. Etta Theresia Ziegler, 68, who died at the local hospital August 17, were held at the First Congregational church August 19, with the Rev. Paul Johnson, Methodist minister, officiating. Through a hospital error, the name of Mrs. Ziegler was given as Mrs. Anna Ziegler in an earlier account of her death. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery, with the Foy Funeral home in charge. Pallbearers were George Osborn, Walter Frederick, John J. Gappa, Fred Henderson, L.F. Place and O.K. Whorley.

Born in Streater, Illinois Jan. 2, 1882, Mrs. Ziegler was the daughter William and Alma Dennis Cox. Part of her life was spent in Manville and Pontiac, Illinois, her marriage to Arthur J Ziegler taking place Oct 13, 1898 in Pontiac. The couple became the parents of the following children Gladys (Mrs. Strange) of Mason City; Kenneth of Rolfe; Ralph of Spirit Lake; Mrs Alta Norland of Titonka; Lloyd Ziegler, Mrs Lela Murphy, and Glen, all of Emmetsburg; and Mrs. Avis Iverson of Ruthven.

Mr. Ziegler died in March 1830. A son, Claude, died in infancy.

The family came to Emmetsburg in 1910 and Mrs. Ziegler had remained near here until her death which occurred in the Emmetsburg hospital after an illness of three years. She bore her illness patiently and never lost interest in the welfare of her family and many friends.

Besides her children, she is suvived by three half-sisters, Mrs. Alice Wolf of Chicago, Myrtle Ahrenholtz of Manilla, and Maude Ahrenholtz of Defiance, Ia, and one brother, Ray C. Cox of Danville, IL.

A half-sister, Irma Eigler of Defiance preceded her in death. There are 24 grandchildren and one great grand daughter. Her death is mourned by many acquaintances and neighbors who admired her many good qualities as a wife and mother.
