From “the Evening Republican”, Mitchell, South Dakota, Monday, 23 Jan 1922.

“Frank V. Richards, 223 W 11th avenue, died Sunday at 4:30 a.m. at the local hospital at the age of 66 years.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Methodist Episcopal church with Rev. A. L. Semans officiating. The body will lie in state this evening from 7:30-9:30 at the Noble & Sons parlors. Mr. Richards is survived by his widow Flora Richards, 2 daughters, Mrs. Fred Irwin and Mrs. Minor Irwin.”

Franklin Vernett Richards was born in Apr 1855 in Wisconsin to Jesse Chineth and Abigail "Abby" Jane (Humphrey) Richards and departed this life on 22 Jan 1922. He married Miss Flora Vestella Knapp on April 3, 1885. To this union five children were born: Frank Lee, Zoe Adeline, Esther Fay, Abby Vernette, and Laura Gertrude Richards. He loved his family.
