“J.E.W. Richards”

“Jesse Elbert West Richards, of Taft, Texas, who died at Hot Springs, Ark., was born September 14, 1872, in Silver Lake township, Palo Alto county, Iowa. At the age of seven he moved with his parents to Ruthven where he grew to manhood. He was in business at Peterson for three years, and likewise spent four years at Royal. With the exception of these few years he made his home in Ruthven until December, 1906, when he went to Taft, Texas, and made his home with his sister, Mrs. C. A. Williams.

While living in Texas he worked at his trade of painting being the head painter on the Taft Ranch. Some time since he was affected by lead poisioning and before he was over the results of this was taken down with rheumatism. His death came as a great shock to his loved ones.

He leaves to mourn his death three sisters, Mrs. J.R. Phoenix, of Ruthven; Mrs. George L. Dickerman, of Cedar Falls; and Mrs. Chas. A. Williams, Taft, Texas, and two brothers, Frank V. Richards of White Lake, S.D. and Charles J. Richards, of Des Moines.”
