W. L. Thomson Services to Be Held Thursday

Funeral services for William L. Thomson, 75, of Emmetsburg who died of a prolonged illness, January 27 at Palo Alto Memorial Hospital will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 31 at the First Congregational Church. The Reverend Gerald G. Hallauer of Spencer will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery with Ellsworth -- Beiter in charge of arrangements.

William Leonard Thomson was born on the family farm at Rodman October 29, 1887, a son of John and Matilda Sprout Thompson. He received his education in the public schools of Palo Alto County. On November 26, 1914, he married Margaret Coburn in Brook Park, Minnesota. Mr. Thomson continued to live on the family farm until 1946 when he retired and moved into Emmetsburg. His son John is now living on the farm.

Survivors include three children: Mrs. Paul Freeman of Cylinder, Mrs. W. J. Brown of Emmetsburg and John Thomson of Emmetsburg. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Thomson was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a half brother and three half sisters.

During the services Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Kallestad sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Sweet Bye and Bye," accompanied by Mrs. Jack Cook, organist.

Pallbearers will include Bill Juhl, Odne Stokka, John Fickbohm, Jr., Alvin Wollner, George D. Freeman and Eugene Sweeney.
