Thomas Twaiten Services Held at St. John's, Depew
Funeral services for Thomas Twaiten, 76, lifelong resident of the Depew area, were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Depew with the Reverend Oliver E. Johnson officiating. Burial was in North St. John's Lutheran Cemetery at Depew with Ellsworth -- Beiter in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Twaiten died January 16 at Palo Alto Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient since January 12.
Born in Fairville, Iowa, September 3, 1886, he was the son of Tosten and Gunnil Twaiten and received his education in the rural schools of the Palo Alto County area. On March 25, 1924 he married Ida Lugeland at Cylinder. They were the parents of four children. Mr. Twaiten was a veteran of the first world war.
Survivors include his wife and four children: Kermit, at home, Arden of Cylinder, Ivan L. of Phoenix, Arizona and Thomas, Jr. of New York City. Also surviving is one grandchild.
During the services Mrs. Elmer Johnson sang "Saved by Grace" and the entire congregation sang "Beautiful Savior." Miss Virginia Johnson was organist.
Pallbearers included Henry Gowans, Lyle Thompson, Joseph Kay, Elmer Johnson, Olaf Norland and Oscar Berkland.
