Fred Fessler Services Held

Funeral services for Fred H. Fessler, 84, of Fenton were held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Methodist Church with the Reverend Paul C. Hoyt officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Emmetsburg with Ellsworth- Beiter funeral home in charge of arrangements

Mr. Fessler died of a heart attack Wednesday, December 26, at his farm home east of Fenton.

Born at Perry, he married Minnie McDermott at Rockwell City in 1903. Shortly afterward they moved to Palo Alto County where Mr. Fessler farmed until 1947. At that time they moved to a farm near Fenton.

Besides his wife Mr. Fessler is survived by five children: Luhrl and Mrs. Arthur Kruse of Ringsted, Lowell of Fenton, Mrs. Elmer Lee and Mrs. Marvin Moffet of Estherville, also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Fred Doose of Chicago, Illinois and Mrs. Della Matthews of Davenport. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Leatha Pierce, and two infants.

Honorary pallbearers included Henry Gowans, Andrew Gowans, Ulrick Juhl, Sam Vanderby, Carl Simons and Herbert Myer. Active pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased: Eldon Lee, Darrell Lee, Russell Moffet, Marvin Moffet, Ray Fessler and Verle Pierce.

During the services Mrs. Irvin Solberg sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Does Jesus Care?" She was accompanied by Mrs. Dennis Henriksen, organist.
