Benjamin L. (Benji) Banwart, 72
July 29, 1934-October 3, 2006

Funeral services for Benjamin L. Banwart, 72, were held Saturday, October 7, 2006, 10:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church, West Bend, Iowa, with the Ministers of the Church officiating. Burial was in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery, West Bend. Harris Funeral Home of West Bend handled the arrangements.

Casket Bearers were Ray Banwart, Tim Banwart, Randy Adams, Rick Crotts, Nick Thilges, Jay Blener.

Benjamin Lee Banwart, son of Pal and Elizabeth Benninger BAnwart, was born July 29, 1934, on the family farm in rural West Bend, Iowa. He was raised and educated in West Bend, graduating from West Bend High School in 1952. Upon graduation Benji enlisted with the United States Air Force and was on active duty for four years. On January 11, 1959, Benji was united in marriage with Betty Crotts at the Presbyterian Church in West Bend. The couple lived and farmed near West Bend their entire married lives. Benji passed away October 3, 2006. Benji was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 151 of West Bend.

Survivors include his wife, Betty of West Bend, daughter Lee Ann Banwart of Aurora, Illinois; son Jeffrey Banwart of Brookfield, Wisconsin; son David and Angela Banwart of Jacksonville, Florida and their children Joseph, Nicholas and Alex; son Scott and LeAnn Banwart of Wind Lake, Wisconsin and their daughter Grace; brothers and sisters: Clara Anliker of West Bend, Miriam Frieden of Ankeny, Iowa; Edwin Banwart of Mediapolis, Iowa; Leona Wulf of Sabetha, Kansas; Alice Metzger of Alvord, Iowa; Lela Banwart of West Bend, Esty Metzger of Hills, Minnesota; Paul Banwart of West Bend; and several nieces and nephews. Benji was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Arthur, Elmer and Arnold.
