Anthony Neary is Dead.

Anthony Neary died at his home in Great Oak township Thursday afternoon after an illness of some duration. The funeral was held Saturday. The customary services were conducted at Assumption church, Father Costello officiating. The burial was in St. John’s cemetery. The pall bearers were Thomas Kirby, L. Burns, Mr. Aylward, Henry Sells, Alex Jennings and John Burns.

The deceased was a native of Roscommon county, Ireland. He was born in December, 1829. He lived in New York for two years, after which he moved to La Salle county, Illinois. Later he became a resident of Livingston county, that state, where he was married, in 1868, to Bridget Farrell. The latter died in that vicinity in 1877. In April, 1890 Mr. Neary and family came to this county and of late years made their home on a farm in Great Oak township. There is one son – Matthew – and two daughters – Mrs. James Aylward and Miss Maggie Neary. All reside in this community.

The deceased was a quiet, unpretentious, frugal farmer citizen. He did not go about much, preferring the peace and enjoyment of his own fireside to the excitement and the attractions that the world offers. He was pleasant and warm hearted and he was a ready and well informed converser concerning the public affirs of his time. He was permitted to enjoy a career longer than the average, the memory of which will long be fondly cherished by those who know him as a kind indulgent, considerable parent. The sympathy of a large circle of friends and neighbors is extended to the surviving son and daughters.
