Theobold Wessar is Dead

Monday morning Mr. Theobold Wessar died at his home at Mallard after an illness of some duration. He had been afflicted for several years with two tumors, one being on each side of his abdomen. Last fall he gave up farming and moved to Mallard. He gradually failed and finally yielded to the inevitable. The funeral will be held today. The interment will be in Rush Lake cemetery.

Mr. Wessar was born in Germany. He came to the United States when quite young He moved to Palo Alto county about 1875 and was subsequently married to a Mrs. Wessar, who lived in Great Oak township. Subsequent to that time and until last fall, Mr. Wessar continued to reside on a farm in that neighborhood. They were frugal and economical and they prospered. The deceased is survived by his aged companion and the following named sons and daughters: John, Charles, Fred, Hattie, and Friede. There are also two step-sons- George and Robert – and two step-daughters- Mrs T. Coakley and Mrs. T. Ruehle. Mr. Wessar was perhaps 65 years of age. He was a man of deeds rather than of professions. Those who knew him as a neighbor speak of him only in the highest terms of praise. In fact we have yet to hear a word against his civility or integrity as a citizen. He was a plain, modest, industrious, upright German citizen. The sympathy of all is extended to those from whom the fond and devoted husband and father has been taken.
