Services Held For Mrs. Coate

Services for Margaret Jane Coate were held Friday from the Hackett Funeral Home with burial in the Essex Cemetery.

The Rev. L. Barry Phelps conducted the memorial. Singing in trio were Jim, Joe and John Bengtson. Mrs. Sam Bengtson was organist. Mrs. Forrest Gillespie and Mrs. Robert Gillespie cared for the flowers.

Bearers were Sam Bengtson, Floyd Gillespie, Forrest Gillespie, Kenneth Gillespie, and W. Fay Green.

Margaret Jane Krieger Coate, daughter of Jacob John and Lena Krieger, was born September 9, 1882 in New London, Ia., Des Moines County. She died March 29, 1972 in Shenandoah at the age of 89 years, 5 months and 29 days.

Margaret was a member of the Essex First United Presbyterian Church, (in 1969 she received the honorary associateship of Christian Education in the Upusa Church). On December 25, 1908, she was united in marriage to Charles Christopher Coate at Red Oak.

She is survived by one son, Morris of Essex; one brother Clarence Krieger, Long Beach, California; two nieces, Luella Main of Shenandoah and Ethel Richards of Red Oak and other relatives.

NOTE: Gravestone search spells Krieger as Kreiger.
