OLD SETTLER GONE TO HIS REWARD

Chas J. Hendrickson passed away at his home northwest of Essex in West township, Montgomery county, yesterday morning following an illness of eight or ten weeks duration. He was stricken first with an aggravating case of eczema and about eight weeks ago went to Excelsior Springs, Mo., for treatment thinking the change of climate and water would be of benefit to him. While there he contracted a severe cold and after remaining there only a few days came home and went at once to bed where he has been very ill with a complication of diseases. All that medical aid could do was given him but of no avail and he passed away yesterday morning at two o'clock.

Charles John Hendrickson was born in Sweden July 31, 1865, and died December 12, 1918 being 53 years, 4 months and 12 days old. When but a child two years old he came with his parents to America settling first in Indiana, afterward coming to Red Oak and later to the place he owned at the time of his death.

He was married April 6, 1891 to Miss Anna Abraham. To this union four children were born, three daughters and one son, Mrs. Ed Falk who lives northeast of Essex, Mrs. Albin Falk of Brady, Mont., Mabel and Elmer at home.

Besides his immediate family he leaves to mourn his aged parents and four sisters.

The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the home conducted by Rev. Bowman of Red Oak and the remains laid to rest in Essex cemetery.

Charley as we all knew him was a big hearted jovial fellow with a good word for everyone. He was an energetic farmer and a fine neighbor, and will be missed in the community where he lived.

The family have the sympathy of a very large circle of friends in their hour of bereavement.
