Beulah B. Graves, the daughter of William P. and Nellie (Jobes) Graves, was born at Melvin, Iowa on February 6, 1913. She spent her youth and received her education at Melvin.

On August 12, 1936, Beulah and Clarence A. Schaffer were united in marriage at Spencer, Iowa. They spent their entire married life in the Melvin community.

Beulah and Clarence passed away at the Hartley Community Memorial Hospital following a car accident. Beulah reached the age of 72 years, five months and 15 days.

Beulah is survived by one daughter, Mrs. John (Rebecca) Schuett of Sheldon, Iowa; and three grandchildren. Beulah is survived by one brother, Kenneth Graves of Melvin.

Beulah was preceded in death by her parents and their daughter, LuEllen.

Beulah and Clarence were very active in the United Methodist Church at Melvin, Iowa.

Joint funeral services were held July 23 at the United Methodist Church at Melvin, Iowa with Rev. Rick Dee officiating.

Casketbearers were Tom Graves, Lloyd Raveling, Steve Wachtel, Terry Graves, John Klatt, Sr. and Joe Watterson.

The congregation sang the hymns, "Be Not Dismayed" and "Fairest Lord Jesus." Mary Benz was organist.

Interment was at Baker Township Cemetery, Melvin, Iowa, with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
