Jack H. Hitchcock, son of Harmon and Carlena (Graves) Hitchcock, was born in Melvin, Iowa on May 14, 1925. He lived his youth, attended school and grew to young manhood in this vicinity. His entire life was lived in the Melvin vicinity.
He passed away suddenly at his home on February 17, 1982 at the age of 56 years, nine months and three days.
He is survived by one brother, Lee W. Hitchcock of Fremont, Calif., and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ardyce Leinen, on October 3, 1980.
He was a member of the Melvin United Methodist Church of Melvin, Iowa.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Melvin United Methodist Church. Rev. Paul Hansen officiated.
Casket bearers were Lyle Muilenburg, Carol Heitritter, Clarence Schaffer, Clarence Winkel, Clifford McCarty and Arlo Jordan.
The congregation sang two hymns, "Be Not Dismayed" and "How Great Thou Art." Mrs. Roy Van Houten was organist.
Interment was in Baker Township Cemetery, Melvin with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge.
