Ardyce Arleween Hitchcock, daughter of Harmon and Carlena (Graves) Hitchcock, was born in Sanborn, Iowa on March 9, 1921. At the age of three years, in 1925, she moved with her family to Melvin, Iowa. She lived her youth, attended school and grew to young womanhood in this vicinity.

She was united in marriage to Frank Leinen of Aston, S.D., on July 9, 1939. Their entire life was lived in Melvin. She passed away at the Worthington Regional Hospital at Worthington, Minn., on October 3, 1980 at the age of 59 years, six months and 24 days.

She is survived by her husband, Frank of Melvin; one daughter, Mrs. Lee William (Sherry) Pierson of Salida, Colo., one son Charles of Spencer, Iowa, four grandchildren, two brothers, Jack H. Hitchcock of Melvin, Iowa and Lee W. Hitchcock of Fremont, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother.

She was a member of the Melvin United Methodist Church and the Royal Neighbor Lodge.

Funeral services were held Monday, October 6 at the Melvin United Methodist Church with Rev.Paul Hansen officiating.

Casket bearers were Clarence Winkel, Lyle Muilenburg, Carol Heitritter, Kenneth Weness, Orlo Jordan and Clifford McCarty.

The congregation sang two hymns, "What A Friend We Have in Jesus" and " How Great Thou Art." Mrs. Roy Van Houten was organist.

Interment was in Baker Township Cemetery, Melvin with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge.
