W.D. MILLS DROWNED

Another Aged Resident of Sanborn Has Passed to His Reward

Word was received in Sanborn on Monday that W.D. Mills, who was attending a convention of the B. of L.F. & E. at Denver, Colo., had been drowned there Friday evening and the body was not recovered until Sunday afternoon. The remains will be shipped to Sanborn and the funeral held this afternoon at his home. The services will be in charge of Rev. J.W. Turner and music will be furnished by a quartet selected from the Presbyterian church choir. Interment will be in Roseland cemetery.

William Dudley Mills was born in Sanborn on June 12, 1884, and died on June 30, 1916, age 32 years and 18 days. He attended school here and at the age of 18 enlisted in the United States Navy, accompanying the fleet on the tour of the world some years ago. At the close of his term of service he entered the employ of the Milwaukee railroad and had advanced to engineer. He was president of the local B. of L.F. & E., and was a delegate to the Denver convention which he was attending at the time of death. His wife and a son survive. He also leaves a brother, Bert Mills, of Alden, Minn., and a sister, Miss Eva Mills, of Minneapolis, both of whom are present to attend the funeral.

Many friends unite in expressing sincere condolence to those left to mourn the death of this young man just entering the prime of manhood.

NOTE: Gravestone records indicate that William Dudley Mills was married to Gerritje Borgers in 1907.
