Services for Louis Klatt were held Sat. Feb. 9 at 1:30 p.m. from the American Lutheran Church of Melvin with the Rev. H.H. Adix, officiating.
Casketbearers were Robert Nonneman, John Benz, Donald Bracker, Willard Philliph, Wayne Remme and Dennis Hilman. Internment was in Baker Township Cemetery, Melvin with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Louis Klatt, son of Louis Sr. and Kathryn (Burk) Klatt, was born in Harrison Township, Osceola County, Iowa on August 26, 1896. He attended school and grew to young manhood in the Melvin, Ia., vicinity.
He was united in marriage to Anita Erion on Feb. 24, 1926 at Alvord, Ia. After their marriage they farmed in the Melvin vicinity and moved into the town of Melvin on November 1, 1962, where they lived until his sudden death at the Hartley Community Hospital, Hartley, Ia., on Feb. 7, 1964 at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 11 days.
He is survived by his wife, Anita, of Melvin; one son, Donald and his wife of Fort Dodge, Ia.; one granddaughter, Donna, four brothers and four sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He served in the Army Medical Corps in World War I entering the service on September 5, 1918. He was confirmed in the Lutheran Church and was a member of the American Lutheran Church of Melvin. He was a charter member of the Melvin American Legion.
