Funeral services for Wayne Graves, 54, who died Feb. 7 were held from the Melvin United Methodist Church Monday, Feb. 11 with the Rev. Mike Thompson officiating.
Casketbearers were Jerold Graves, Fredrick Steiber, Dwayne Erickson, Robert Maust Jr., Beryl Buchan and Robert Hartke. Internment was in Baker Township Cemetery, Melvin with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Wayne Graves, son of Frederick and Lillian (Jacobs) Graves, was born in Melvin, Ia., on Nov. 2, 1919. He attended school and grew to young manhood in the Melvin vicinity. He lived with and cared for his mother until her death and then continued to make his home in Melvin until he was admitted to the Iowa City Hospital and for a time lived with his sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Maust Sr., at Lansing, Ia.
He passed away at the Waukon Hospital at Waukon, Ia., on February 7, 1974 at the age of 54 years, 3 months and 5 days.
He is survived by two sisters, Mae (Mrs. Alvin Sessions) of Byron, Wyo., and Freda (Mrs. Robert Maust, Sr.) of Lansing, Ia., one brother, Roland Graves of Winona, Minn., and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was a member of the Melvin United Methodist Church of Melvin, Iowa.
