Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 3, 1972 from First Congregational Church at Sherburn, Minnesota for Helen Emma Buchan with Rev. Edwin H. Hakel officiating.
Helen Emma Graves was born May 4, 1903 to Frederick and Lillian Graves in Baker Township in Iowa. Mrs. Buchan passed away January 31, 1972.
She was married to Ernest Buchan at Fairmont, Minn., on December 30, 1929. They lived on a farm in Jay Township until 1961 when they moved to Sherburn, Minn. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Alpha, Minn., and after moving to Sherburn joined the Congregational Church.
She is survived by her husband, one son and five daughters: Beryl Buchan of Waukesha, Wisconsin, Mrs. Duane Erickson (Beulah) of Alpha, Mrs. Walter Burgeson (Margaret) of Armstrong, Iowa, Mrs. Merville Steen (Lavonne) of Jackson, Minn., Mrs. Robert Hartke (Joan) of Sherburn, Minn., Mrs. Arthur Syversen (Cleone) of Odin; nineteen grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Alvin Sessions (Mae) of Byron, Wyo., Mrs. Robert Maust (Freda) of Lansing, Iowa; two brothers, Roland Graves of Winona, Minn., and Wayne Graves of Melvin, Iowa.
Casketbearers were Merlyn Bork, Wayland Smalley, Lloyd Harvey, Kenneth Graves, Clarence Schafer and Jerald Graves. Interment was at Sherburn Village Cemetery.
