BYRON, Wyo. - Mae Sessions and her first husband homesteaded near Powell in 1918. She was a substitute mail carrier for 40 years.
Mrs. Sessions, 84, died Saturday in North Big Horn Hospital, Lovell, of cancer.
She was a member of Byron Homemakers Club, Byron Sewing Club, VFW Auxilliary and Rebekah Lodge. Born in Melvin, Iowa, she was a daughter of Fred and Lillian (Jacobs) Graves. In 1963 she married Alvin A. Sessions in Powell.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Wayland E. Smalley of Powell and Ralph Smalley Jr. of Liberal, Kan., a stepson, Howard Sessions of Clarkston, Wash.; five stepdaughters, Jennie Nash of Byron, Evelyn Croft of Powell, Leona Foulk and Lavon Castro, both of Greybull, and Wilma Gaye Haratyk of Boise, Idaho; a sister Freda Maust of Lansing, Iowa; five grandchildren; 25 step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and 48 step great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Byron LDS Chapel with burial in Byron Cemetery. Haskell Funeral Home, Lovell, is in charge.
