Lillian Graves, daughter of Albert and Mary Jacobs was born Sept. 27, 1879 at Ashton, and passed away on May 2, at the Sibley Hospital. She lived most of her life in and around Melvin.
On Dec. 21, 1930 she became a member of the Melvin Methodist church and until the time of failing health, was active in its various activities.
On Feb. 11, 1898 she was united in marriage to Frederick F. Graves and to this union 9 children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter Lois, and an infant son and daughter.
She leaves to mourn her death three daughters, Mae Smalley of Powell, Wyo., Freda Maust of Lansing, Iowa, and Helen Buchan of Sherburn, Minn., and three sons, Harold, Roland of Homer, Minn., and Wayne of Melvin, 22 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, two brothers, George of Worthington and Earl of Sibley, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held in the Melvin Methodist church on Monday, May 6 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. H.D. Bonath conducting the service. Music was furnished by Mrs. Norman Jobes, soloist and Mrs. Laurence Hutzell, organist.
Pallbearers included Robert Maust, Beryl Buchan, Gerald Graves, Kenneth Graves, Jerold Graves, and Clarence Schaffer. Burial at Baker Township cemetery, with Walton Funeral home of Sibley in charge of arrangements.
