Frederick Frank Graves was born December 30, 1877, at Melvin, Iowa, and passed away at Iowa City, Iowa on November 25, 1941. He grew to manhood in this community, and spent most of his life here.
On February 11, 1898, he married Lillian Jacobs and to this union nine children were born. Three of them preceding him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing: his wife; three daughters: Mae Smalley of Powell, Wyo., Helen Buchan, of Alpha, Minn., and Freda Maust of Lansing, Ia.; three sons: Harold, of Hector, Minn., Roland, and Wayne, of Melvin. Seventeen grandchildren and one great-grandchild, three sisters and three brothers, a step-father and a host of friends also survive.
Funeral services were held from the Methodist church Friday afternoon with the Rev. Ernest Stanworth of Aurelia, former pastor here, in charge. Pallbearers were J.H. Graves, W.P. Graves, Otto Graves, Fred Riecks and two Winter brothers. Burial was made in Baker cemetery.
