Archie Maust 1898 - 1946

Funeral services for Archie Maust, 58, of Spokane, Wash., were held on Tuesday, March 20, at 1 p.m., in the Alwin Chapel of the Hazen and Jaeger funeral home at Spokane, Rev. Guy Zehring officiating. The American Legion, Post No. 9 participared in the graveside sevices. Burial in the Riverside Park Cemetery. Archie Maust, son of B.J. Maust and Lizzie Fike Maust was born on February 28, 1898 at Sanborn, Ia., on the farm now occupied by the Francis Moore family. It was here he grew to manhood and after the death of his father in 1919 he helped farm with his brothers for several years, then he went west. Later he served several years in the army. After his discharge he again went west where he continued to make his home. March 6, 1946, he was united in marriage to Myrtle Thompson of Missoula, Montana. The last years have been spent in Spokane. He is survived by his children; Archie George, eight years old and Shirley Ann, six years old, of Spokane, also two brothers and four sisters, Howard Maust, Horace, S.D., Robert Maust, Lansing, Ia., Mrs. George Rubsam, of Swanville, Minn., Mrs. William Carpenter, Fonda, New York, Mrs. Cora Brendle and Mrs. Sallie Pithan of Sanborn. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, one in infancy, James of Sanborn, and Bert Maust, Watertown, S.D.
